Those joysticks look interesting. Did you import them directly from Taiwan, and if so is the company easy to deal with.

Also how do their prices compare with Happ/Industrias Lorenzo?

Thanks in advance

I'm very interested in how much the buttons cost you before shipping and the exact quality. How hard was it to communicate with them for your order.

do you know how well it compares to Happ/Lorenzo buttons?
Can you take some pictures up close to compare? I noticed that you even got P1 and P2 start buttons in the convex style.

Thanks!!!

I dont order directly from that company.
All material was bought in a arcade distribuidor here on my country.

The Joystick was 20 Euros each.
The buttons was 2 Euros each.

MilitiaMan: From the reply that u received, it appear that the prices from Sun-Betty site have amazing prices, to bad that extras tax, maybe applied on taxs and customs borders.

Can you provide website for said distributor?

Maybe they will be a bit more realistic ... from the looks of it, they must be making like a 500% profit.

You say that without taking into account the shipping expenses, plus import tax/tarif expenses, plus market overhead.... all before he can even sell the thing.

Cleric: That Portuguese company is pretty expensive compared with IL. However SunBetty is incredibly cheap. Why am I wasting time with Happ/Suzo etc?

However, does anyone know whay payment methods they accept i.e. credit card, paypal etc?

I once ordered some stuff from IL and their only payment method was wire transfer which is a hassle and pretty expensive across national boundaries.

Still those prices are so tempting....

Ok ... I got the same e-mail ... but here is the problem ... they want to charge me 100 bucks US to ship the stuff !!!

What the HELL is that about ?!?!@?!??!?!##

Here is the e-mail I got when I placed an order for parts:

...
As above items amount is US$ 25.22 + 100.00 (UPS Express charge) = US$
125.22##
...

$100 for Air shipped from Asia to US is normal.

UPS Express International is expensive, period.  Look it up at ups.com.  Anything internal air is expensive.  I think even FedEx might be cheaper ~$75 (on-line quote).  Airborne and DHL (DHL is buying Airborne, BTW) only let me price from US to Taiwan, so the prices aren't as valid, but airborne was the cheapest, and DHL was ~$100.  (DHL might let me qet a quote from taiwan to US, but I don't read chinese.)

Oh ya, I used a west coast zip code, so costs will be higher for those East of California.  I used an exchange rate of 34.6 TWD to 1 USD.

Ocean shipping is a lot cheaper, but takes ~3-4 months.

If a bunch of people place one order together, and than redistibute the parts.... that would cut down on shipping. Figure about $6 to $12 for each additional US address.

Keep in mind, they are expecting to sell to resellers in the first place.  That's why small orders are considered samples.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm thinking that we may order a bunch of samples from them to evaluate for building a series of sticks from.

Cleric- please clarify. The buttons that you have from them are convex? and convex player start buttons too?? No where have I seen these buttons on their site. I don't see it from Sun Betty. Who made those covex buttons? Lorenzo? "iL"??? They sure do look like Lorenzo.

I wonder if the Sun Betty buttons are comparable to Happ/Lorenzo buttons. I'm looking for a good clone source of buttons for a large number of sticks. Maybe SunBetty is it.

OK ...

Here it is = I got another e-mail back from SunBetty and they can use the standard postal service and ship the products to me for $60.00 US -- definitely better than a hundred bucks, but still not great.  :-\

So ... I have this idea. If there are any BYOAC'ers out there (in the US) that would like these parts, I would be willing to place a bulk order with them and we could all split the shipping costs. (Remember, you will also pay the shipping costs from my home to yours, which would be minimal shipping USPS.)

If you would like to participate, please send me a PM with your E-Mail address. I will then e-mail each of you an order form. That way you don't have to explain how many of each you wish to order. I will not place the order until I have confirmed the final cost with SunBetty and we all agree to split whatever the shipping is.

You really can't beat these prices and the photos seem to indicate that this is pretty high quality stuff (tho I guess we really won't know for sure until Cleric hooks it all up). So if you want to get in on this, PM me you e-mail addy now and if there is enough interest, we'll get it done.  ;D

I just put in an order for just under $400 worth of samples from them. Be wary though when ordering this stuff guys... it can be pretty easy to soak yourself on import tariffs.

Cleric - at 2 euro per button, that's over 2.30 USD per button. This is more than what we pay here.

Since you are in portugal, I imagine that you purchased industries Lorenzo buttons (made in Spain) You know this by the "iL" on the bottom of the button next to where the microswitch goes in. If this is true then the Sun Betty buttons are not the same quality. I find the "iL" buttons to be the best that I've seen.

Yes! All buttons are convex, player start buttons too.
I cant give the sure if buttons were manufactured by Sun Betty.
But u can email they and ask.

I dont yet  try the Joysticks in "real action" (i think it will take a 1/2 months for try that, because i dont have any Key-encoder or PSx converter) :o

The construction, and look appear to be quality stuff.

and by the felling it gave on moving, appear to be great.
I have tried some Original joysticks ball-top that came with SEGA/NOAMI cabs, on some arcade shops(i dont if this expression is correct).
From this "little" experience, it appear that KC-05 by Sun Betty have a little more tension on the Stick.. not "that" harder tension  ::), is JUST have LITTLE... more tension  than original Sega/Naomi Sticks. It give me a good "solid" moving felling. ;)

This all i can say for now. I hope it help ::)

Cheers

just look at the button. There will be a little iL on the part that holds the microswitch.

then it's a industries Lorenzo button. It really does look like one.

When I bought some stuff from IL just over 6 months ago their buttons cost 0.90 euros including the microswitch. At the time I thought that was a good price but the SunBetty prices blow them out of the water.

Also in case anyone's interested I know for a fact that IL sell convex start buttons.

Maybe the SunBetty buttons are the same ones used in the X-Arcade i.e. they look like the IL ones but are of slightly inferior quality.

There must be some down side to the SunBetty products otherwise Happ would be selling them instead of the IL stuff. Either the quality is inferior or perhaps IL offer a better deal if you buy from them in bulk.

One thing that I think is a bit odd about the joystick is that the ball top seems to just pull off. It doesn't even appear to be threaded. How would that work in a real arcade I wonder.

I find it odd that the US happ store can sell these Lorenzo buttons for so much cheaper than what you can get them in europe. Here the concave ones were on sale last month for $.99 each with the micro switch. That's when I bought a bunch. Normally they are $1.70 each. But 2 Euro???? crazy.  It should be much cheaper. Also the buttons that Cleric got were not confrimed or assumed from Sun Betty even though his joystick was from there. There is another Japanese style stick out there that I've seen the sample for. It looks better than the Sun Betty one. I'm just looking for a clone of the Lorenzo Competition stick out there.

I couldn't find the convex start buttons anywhere. Where can I order them from cause i'm in the US. I'm wondering if you can order a white man on a black button from Lorenzo. That would be awesome.

I dunno, I see plenty of places charging $2 for pushbuttons+switches. He just overpayed, or the market for them is just crummy there.

The impression I get from IL's website (look under the "codification" section) is that the start buttons can be bought in non-white colours.

And the store i enquiry was ask for 2,50 Euros and 3,6 Euros for button (this store i laught in there faces).

But no one can put in jeopardy the Competive cheapest prices from

So if you want to get in on this, PM me you e-mail addy now and if there is enough interest, we'll get it done.  ;D

Hello MilitiaMan  --  Please include me on your planned bulk order of arcade parts from Sun Betty.  I have my needed items picked out. Please email at evasyar@yahoo.com.  Thanks!

Hello to everyone.  This will be my first post in this magnificent golden knowledged infested site.  I am not a newbie to the MAME and arcade scene just this forum.  I have been picking some some pointers from a lot of you and I really appreciate this site being what it is.  A compendium of Arcade Tech Knowledge and they are priceless... ;)

I'm ordering samples with my contacts at Redocatane.com
I'll post some pictures when we are done. I might also convience them to sell parts through their website. We'll be able to get bulk sticks and buttons cheap.

We've talked about how much biz there would be to target DIY'ers etc... they also might want to sell their boxes as kits to build it yourself.

Those balltops don't look terribly well made (judging from the picture).
I recently received some seimitsu ls-33s, really well put together, I would recommend them if you are wanting the candy style sticks.

Yes, the screw in the top does kind of detract from the overall niceness, doesn't it?

I would think carefully about this...the investment in an arcade cabinet is quite large, the saving in $ by buying copy Chinese controls rather than Happ/IL/Wico/Suzo or Japanese-made controls such as Sanwa just might not be worthwhile if you want the best quality result.

I have to agree actually.

I'm more interested in how good their buttons/switches are. I didn't think that the joysticks looked very good but I didn't want to piss on this dude's thread since it was nice enough to show us the parts and give info for the sake of the comm.

MilitiaMan, do you know whether the $60 quote was for surface or airmail?

Thanks in advance

Not sure ... I am scrapping this idea anyway as there was not enough interest to justify the expense.

Haggling with these guys on a couple of minor issues, then I will have an order with a large assortment of their products coming my way for testing, with a bunch of those nice pre-molexed jamma harnesses to cover my expenses. I'll let you guys know. BTW, those "sanwa" sticks that Ultimarc sells look nothing like the bases on the ones from my guy, but do look like the sanwa knockoffs these guys sell.

BTW, since I haven't set any colors yet, what colors do you guys like to use, and is there any interest in the white-border,translucent colored center lighted pushbuttons? I'm talking about the ones they sell that look most like normal pushbuttons...

I will be interested to see how "zippy" microswitches feel compared to cherry or the junk x-arcade uses.

If there's anything (parts, not machines) from their website that someone is interested in, feel free to email me. You'll have to pre-pay for anything you ABSOLUTELY want, but otherwise, I'll try to keep peoples desires in mind since I have a certain degree of flexibility.
