Apple][ Emulation / MaLa
« on: November 07, 2007, 01:08:31 pm »
Can't find much on Apple][ emulation from the ol' search function. It looks like a few folks are using MaLa/MESS for it, but what about MaLa with DAPPLE][, ApplePC, or AppleWin? Anyone have experience running these from MaLa? What's the preferred method?

Gotta have Hard Hat Mack, Choplifter, Sneakers, Castle Wolfenstein...

I have yet to find the perfect Apple ][ emulator.  Applewin is very nice, but I notice some minor timing/sound issues and it isn't very arcade cabinet/command line friendly (last I looked).  MESS has very good emulation, but doesn't work for a few disks I have (that work fine with Applewin) and also does not support saving back to disk (last I looked).  I'll have to check out DAPPLE][.

I've always liked AppleWin, but I wasn't sure how it would "fit" with an actual cab FE.

I'm hoping that MESS will like the few disks I want to load as I've read good things about it's Apple emulation. Too bad about the save to disk with it, though; I didn't know that was not featured...

I've not tried DAPPLE][ either. I guess I'll give it a go in a test environ and see what happens.

I just read this because I'm thinking of getting an apple emulator going on my cab. I couldn't help but chuckle at the memory of some writing assignment in English class in high school where I used the characters "][" to represent a "2" in the title since I was an apple IIe user. My teacher was like "what the hell is ']['?" (not an exact quote :P)
