Multi Game setup with shooting games
« on: June 18, 2008, 10:29:32 pm »
I'm thinking of grabbing a Trophy Hunting Bear and Moose machine.  I want to over time buy some more pcb's like maybe a House of the Dead or Police Trainer.  Is this a situation where I swap a couple cables onto the other board, or is it more complex?  Are the guns, or the way they work standard?  I know most other games use a pistol, where this is a shotgun, is it just the housing that is different?  Also, does anyone know if $900 for the Trophy Hunting game, mint with a bill validator (is that what you call the dollar bill thingy?) and everything needed to convert to Wing Shooting Championship (marquee, eproms, sideart) is a reasonable deal?

I'm on the verge of making the deal, any thoughts???  I'd be pretty psyched if within 5-10 minutes of work I could have multiple gun games...

Short answer is no. Different gun games use different interfaces/connections depending on the board manufacturer and the complexity of the gun assembly. Some older games that were just single-trigger, optical guns maybe could be switched, but I doubt it on a newer game like that without major electronic messing.

It was for this reason the JAMMA standard was brought in, where most games used the same controls. Light gunsare a different ball game, which is why gun games tend to retail higher as they rely on all the factory hardware to be intact too.
