I was going to going to translate this to English in Bable Fish but I don't know the source language, any clues?  ;)

Yes Scart has audio in and out just like video. See pinout:

Much better  :)

It depends if you want to just connect audio or audio and video and if you want to tap into a cable that you are already using for scart.

Audio and video 1)

Im no expert but a quick google search for 'Scart Pinout' gave me the following page:

http://www.diyha.co.uk/electronics/scart.html

From that diagram pin 1 ia audio output right, pin 3 is audio ouput left and pin 4 is audio ground.

Chop one end of a scart lead and use a multimeter to find which pins are 1, 3 and 4.

I googled for 3.5mm pinout and got the following page:

http://pinouts.ru/Home/Tele35s_pinout.shtml

Chop the end of a 3.5mm stereo cable and find which wires are L, R and ground and then attach these to the appropriate wires of the scart cable.

Reattach the other scart>scart wires.

Alternitevely get scart cables and chop one in half to find out which wires are which and then just cut the insulation of the second scart cable and then hack the wires that you identified from the first scart cable.

Audio 1)

Do the same as above but dont reconnect the other tv signal wires. (However im not sure if the TV will function if all the scart wires are not connected)

Your other option would be to use a composite scart adapter like this:

Obviously you would need to use s-video for the video signal.

Im not 100% sure the above would work but I would enjoy finding out if it did :)

Edit: Beaten to it!!

It is even possible to wire directly from a 15 pin vga connector to a scart plug then you could also split the cable and add audio as well.

I saw this done once a long time ago but never used it so didn't save the link so you could possibly find it by using google.

I do remember you had to use a tool like atitool however to adjust the display output

thats what i plan to do is "tap" into the scart audio.

i am going to add a vol pot to the audio lead going into the  scart, if it all sounds like pants then i will add speaker system

I've done this a few times.

Some of the previous posters have provided misleading information.

You need to use the audio input pins on the scart connector to provide audio through your TV speakers.  SCART also provides audio & video outputs, so that you can link multiple monitors in series.  However, most of us here won't be using that capability.

Use these pins:

2   AUDIO Input Right
4   AUDIO Ground
6   AUDIO Input Left

You can probably just use an old PC speaker cable with 3.5mm jack for the hack.  If you don't have one of those handy, you can buy a cable pretty cheaply eg with RCA plugs on the end.  cut off the ends.  The coloured wires (often red and white, but maybe something else) are the left and right channels.  The other wires (usually black or not sheathed at all, perhaps surrounding the other two wires) are the ground.

If you want to add a volume pot, look here for my guide (WIP):

http://scarvell.net/wiki/index.php?title=VOLUME_CONTROL_MOUNTING_AND_WIRING

BTW - that composite->SCART video adapter dongle shown earlier won't work unless you are already providing composite output from your PC.

i cut the ends of a pair of head phones, one has a blue and gold wire ( like bits of thread)
the other green and gold,

the gold ones will be ground and the other 2 l  and r

will these  be ok since they are like thread?

also woud wire work?

Yes , the 'gold' wires (actually copper or copper alloy) are ground.  The threads surround the other wires to reduce electrical interference.  Twist the exposed threads together to make a wire.

The blue and green ones should be left and right.  The only real reservation I have about saying this is that some cheap headphones only put a single channel (usually the left one) through to both speakers.  Other than hooking it up and using your ears, The only way to be 100%  sure is to use a multimeter and check connectivity with the jack plug sleeve connections, as shown in this pic from Franco B's post:

You can buy a cheap digital multimeter from a hardware store for about $10-15.  Use the diode test function ( symbol looks like this:   ->|   )

Not sure what you mean.  If you aren't getting any beeps at all, then you are probably aren't using your multimeter correctly

There is a guide to using multimeters posted here:
