Music from 720
« on: June 10, 2008, 05:23:01 pm »
That game had some badass music.  Apparently, the guys in a band called "Metronome the City" agree, because they re-recorded it just this year:

For anybody wondering, that square thing on the turntable is a promotional record of the original soundtrack that Atari put out back in the day.  It does not contain the music that you hear in the vid.  I believe, but don't know for sure, that the Atari record has (at least some of) the music found here:

edit:  fixed the first link above; dangit, that was the whole reason I posted the thing!

Man, that guy is a freak. I never thought of doing constant spin tricks as you go. Like many things in games, obvious but not. Sort of a bummer that doing a trick and then sliding to a stop on the ramp park gets such high scores. Goes right against skating a half in the first place. And, did you post the same linke twice?

Uggh.  Yup, I boned the link  the first time.  If you re-check the first post now, you should get a Youtube vid, which was the point of the whole thread in the first place.  :dunno

That's awesome.  I have that record hanging on my arcade cabinet.  I share an office at work with somebody who went through his old record collection and found it, and was nice enough to let me have it.

What's on the record?  Same stuff as the sound files on the page I linked above?

Sadly, I don't have a record player, and I haven't listened to it.  I'm pretty sure it's the same, though (but thanks for the reminder - I need to double check on that!).

I absolutely LOVE the music from the Atari games of that era (Paperboy, Super Sprint, Road Blasters, Toobin, Indiana Jones, etc).

These guys actually contacted me a while ago - I've been meaning to put a link up on the 720 site. The music is definitely one of the best, most memorable features of 720, but I never thought it'd be "covered."

As for game-play, that video is pretty stale - the wild constant jumping is at an all time high these days.

Skate or Die folks!

I'm so dumb...a few years again I had a chance to own an almost immaculate 720....for cheap....I passed....& it's one of my all time favorite games....  :hissy:

Don't ask why I passed, it's a boring story!
