MaLa layout issue and question
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:03:44 am »
This is really strange, well I guess it it, but I've found, regardless of options settings, the only way I can get a background image to display in MaLa is to name it standardH. And then regardless of whatever layout I pick, this image is used. Elsewise, some default-looking or 'null' navy blue background shows. This isn't necessarily a big deal because I don't switch them often. Just thought I'd mention it.

What I do want to be able to do is change the text font. It seems I can only change the 'title' - though it doesn't show up as that color anyway.

I really don't understand the idea behind how the layout editor was designed, because you can't simply right-click any 'object' and have all these options to choose from. You can only change it's place in the fore/background.

... because you can't simply right-click any 'object' and have all these options to choose from ...
But you can simply double-click it! Or use Ctrl+P to open the object properties dialog. Once opened a simple click on an object will display the properties of the selected object.

Why would someone double-click something? Like, in Windows, I have everything set to single-click. (I can understand in the early days of computers, people weren't familiar and would spaz an all, but in this day and age?) And ctrl+P?

Essentially, two things: these aren't intuitive, particularly given the interface (or maybe it's that I don't ever use anything like Photoshop?), and I haven't found either of these methods in anything I've read that's MaLa-related.

Thank you for the information. I might suggest you change the functioning of the app to what is more familiar in the Windows world.

Well since there are more important things for Loadman to work on, perhaps you could invite a neighbor over to perform that "second click" for you.  :dizzy:

I see no reason why there shouldn't be a double click  ???
It's a shortcut to open the properties of an object. With the first click you select the object and then instead of hovering through the menus you simply click a second time :)

Right-clicking is Windows pervasive. Ctrl+P is not. I like menus.

Yeah, but we were referring to the double clicking comment, not right clicking. I agree with you about right clicking - I always like that too, but how often do you see a context menu with only 1 item on it?

OK,

Just for fun I made a new beta version where you can right click and/or double click     ;)

(attached)

Please confirm it works OK

I know it was not a priority but It would be nice to know that the stuff I am compiling works OK for everyone.

Most gracious. I think that's cool. Until after my post, I didn't even know what the options box looked like, so I didn't know what all was available, multiple options, what-have-you. It's good you left in the other way of getting at it, though.
