Any alternate for using plexiglass on your control panel?
« on: May 29, 2008, 11:44:04 pm »
Hello,

I am trying to finalize my metal control panel but I don't want to use plexiglass on top.  Has anyone ever used just a textured shelf liner or sticker to protect the top?  I am just looking for something real simple like a nice plain black top.

thanks

Why even bother with a sticker? Just clean the metal CP up and spray paint it. Personally - I think the artwork really enhances a project. Create yourself some nice art and have mamemarquee's print it, or purchase some artwork already created.

I just saw a few users on here with a nice looking plain black control panel.  Looks like some sort of textured black fir mica or similar.  Was looking for the same effect.

If you want to save some money, find a fabric store near you (maybe even Walmart) and buy some vinyl from there. It's a lot cheaper than the Happs stuff (although the parts express stuff is priced well). You can use spray adhesive like 3M to hold it onto your CP.
Good luck,
Alex
