NEW LCD Topgun driver
« on: May 28, 2008, 07:54:58 pm »
I have resumed trying to get my LCD Topguns to work (still to no avail).

In my attempts to get it to work, I noticed that there is a brand new driver just posted on May 9th, 2008 and promises to support MAME and get the gun working perfectly.

Here is the link: http://www.hkems.com/m_main.htm

My problem is that I cannot figure out how to uninstall Smog's drivers.  It seems that no matter what I do, XP tries to install them when I attach my lightgun and it won't allow me to target the driver...  Any advice?

I had tons of problems with smogs driver on my cab.  I just uninstalled and installed the new LCD topgun driver and it works like a dream...   I am not sure if these drivers work with 2 guns or not, but I will let you know when I try it out.  If you are having problems getting your guns to work, try these out, they worked for me.

If anyone has tried this driver with 2 guns, please let me know if it works.  It could save me some time!

I would love for this to work as I am having a hell of a time trying to write a driver for the wii motes. Although I am dedicated to getting that done, part of me hopes these work so I can move on to something else. (Thats my frustration talking.)

It works

Care to elaborate?  Two guns work perfectly out of the box with little calibration? What did you have to do?

What do you want to more elaborate?

1)We said hundred times it is MAME and multiple LCD TOP GUNS compatible

2)We said that if you have a TOP GUN it is the official driver, so it is the best for Top Gun (It just need some options that Smog´s had)

It is said here, on the expand 47 page thread  ;D ;D ;D http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=48982.1840

Come on....what are you waiting for install?  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah... Awesome, dude....  ::) that thread has been here a "hundred" years longer than the new drivers, which came out only last month.

Many of us were using Smong's drivers BECAUSE we could not get things working properly, and still had some issues to work out anyway.

The point of the question is to ask what the specific differences are to those who have had experience with the driver.  Especially because there is no documentation, and getting rid of old drivers and installing new ones for unofficial hardware can often be a PAIN.

;D ;D ;D  ::)

Yup, but I think it is pretty well explained in page 47. Around from the middle to the bottom.

Even with some Snapshot  ;)

Dumb question, but I thought I'd ask since I'm not that smart.  I had been using mame32ui and just switched to using mame.  My lightguns work in mame32ui, but not when I try using it through mame.  What settings do I need to put into mame.ini in order to make this work with mame?

lightgun        1

#
# CORE INPUT AUTOMATIC ENABLE OPTIONS
#
lightgun_device           lightgun

If that doesn't do the trick is to open the "old" mameUI32 ini folder, and look at the settings in the mame.ini file (if you still have it).  Compare that to the "new" mame.ini in the mame folder.  Look in the input sections noted in headkaze's post.

But do as headkaze said first; those are the most probable things that are different.
