bet'em ups?
« on: May 23, 2008, 12:05:37 pm »
hey guys,

I love them Beat 'em ups.

I have Final Fight, Burning Fight, TMNTs, Punisher and Cadilacs and Dinos.  I was wondering if you guys could recommend any others for my collection!

Thanks!

I played through Alien Vs Predator not long ago, and found it as rewarding a game as any beat em up.

Tough Guys (I think it's called)

It's the one where your a guy with a mohawk and it's a post apocalyptic side-scroller. So memorable to me cause the environment was so destructable/usable.

here's a couple that weren't mentioned.
Cadillacs and dinosaurs.
D&D was mentioned , but worth mentioning there are 2 D&D games which both rock.
Captain Commando.

That's all i can think of off the top of my head right now....

I always thought it would be kind of fun to play a beat-em-up that featured fully realized fighting game characters.  Like Ryu and Ken fighting their way through a Double Dragon environment (only not actually Double Dragon of course, but something specially configured for it).  Is there anything even close to this?  It seems like a real natural for the 1992-4 period.

Look for the homebrew Beats of Rage games. There are MANY versions people have made to suit just about every taste.

Dungeon magic is a pretty good beat em' up.  You gain levels as you go along and alot of stuff in the environment is usable/destructible

I played it tonight and it's every bit as insane as I remember it.

Another vote for Ninja Baseball Batman.. that game ROCKS.  Played it with my brother once and we were both surprised and impressed.  That, along with the Punisher and Vendetta, are probably my favorites.

Another bunch that haven't yet been mentioned here but also good:

Asterix
Crystal of Kings
Dynamite Dux
Knights of Valor (I and II)
Streets of Rage II (MegaPlay/Arcade version of course)
Violent Storm
Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa,

Have fun..
