robotron cab plans and multi williams
« on: May 23, 2008, 04:27:41 am »
hi all I've had my Mame machine for about a year now totally love it can't stop adding to it and always on the look for new projects i got a daytona stand up cab totally gutted for a buck not $1 U.S but $1 NZ about 70 cents I'm in the process of maming.

but may question is that after playing most of the arcade game ever mamed its robotron that gets the most game play this game is fricken awesome i ever played it in my youth when this game came out i wouldn't more than 10 years old plus i don't think this game wasn't as popular in new zealand as it was in the states all i remember is seeing numerous space invaders and defender machines(i may be wrong feel free to correct me any fellow kiwi's).

back to my queston has anybody got any plans? as robotron cabs pretty rare if not expensive so i was going to build my own also i have a 500MHz p3  PC that i was going to run Williams games much like the multi Williams machines from the arcadeshop but a budget model. but the arcadeshop looks like its a moon patrol cab? was moon patrol developed by Williams or Irem as per KLOV was there a buy out? can someone fill in the blanks for me? is the PC good enough for these earlier games?

i enjoy the forum love watching the projects come together very inspiring love the site thank guys look forward to any comments.

Hey Jono,

Great choice of game!

I am also in NZ.
I am lucky enough to have an original USA Robotron which is also my fav game.
There was a thread a while ago about someone wanting some plans. Did they get any?

Moon Patrol and Joust are pretty close. Couple of differences on the sides are that Robotron doesn't step in below the CP and the angle cut above the CP isn't parallel to the CP itself.

Mine is going to get the full resto treatment soon so I can send you some pics if you want?

Good luck.

Cool,

Check out the project announcements section.
There are 2 Moon Patrols being built. Cool cabs. I will build one soon as I just got a MP PCB.
A friend of mine won the Robotron on TM. I was going to put a bid on it as well but I forgot while I was wasting my time watching the Warriors.

Cheers for the comments on the site.
