u360 controller plugin for mala
« on: May 20, 2008, 08:34:50 am »
Hey fatfingers, any chance on making a plugin for mala so you can choose what u360 to use to scroll through the games?  I have four of them but now I can only use 1.  I have heard in the past that it can't work since it has something to do with windows.

Let me know,

thanks

I think it more a loadman job thana plugin job. I guess only one is checked.

I have 2 U360's and have them both set to scroll the game lists in Mala. You need to go to the Controller>Joystick section in Mala options and make sure that you set up your 1st u360 as usual. Then where it shows 'SET' change to 2 and set the same options for the 2nd u360. Note: make sure when setting up the 2nd u360 that you select Joy1 in the dropdown options and not Joy2.

It works like this:

Set 1 is for joystick1 and has Joy1 and Joy2 for options but think of it like a gamepad with 2 analog controls (but you have a single analog u360 instead)
Set 2 is for joystick2 and has Joy1 and Joy2 for options as well.

In each SET for each Joystick you can configure the left analog or right analog or even the POV for your 'gamepad'. But you only want to set it to the u360 which is Joy1 (or the left analog for example).

Since they are separate joystick inputs you will be using only 1 of the so called analog controls for each joy so in essence:

Set 1(for 1st u360) select Joy1 options in the drop downs,
Set 2(for 2nd u360) select Joy1 options in the drop downs.

Also make sure that 'Use second joystick" is checked. This will allow each joy to scroll the games.

Hope this makes sense, I haven't had alot of sleep lol
G'luck!

I just noticed that you had 4 u360's and I have only 2 so i am not sure how that will work with 4 but maybe the options change to allow the other 2 u360s. If so, remember each SET select Joy1 for the options.

That is Cool!

FYI I have three Joysticks on my Cocktail, but I only use two for game selection.

I would really just like to be able to use 3 of the u360, one on each end.  I wish there was away to pick what one I could use.  Maybe some how have mala or the plugin see what joysticks are connected and pick from the list, just an idea

Did you try: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=80301.msg838638#msg838638

Isn't the Joystick number determined by windows?  :dunno  I thought it was.

hey folks, I'll try not to hijack this thread too much, but this is the closest group of people I've found who can hopefully answer my question too.

my setup:

vertical, cocktail machine (formerly a Galaga machine)
2 U360s, one on each side, attached via USB
P1 and P2 buttons mapped separately, routed through an IPac.

I've got the gamelist flipping back and forth whenever someone uses a joystick on either end, and they can scroll through the list just fine.

My problem is, that for either player, when scrolling through the list with the joystick, the player has to press the start button TWICE to get a game to start.
Upon return from the game, you have to move the joystick twice again to start scrolling through the list again.  It's like controller mapping option is eating the first keypress or joystick move before the FE responds again.

If I turn off controller mapping, then it works fine (1 keypress to start, 1 joystick move to scroll the list) except that I don't get the orientation to flip when P2 takes control.

Does it work like this for anyone else?
