MKII speaker
« on: May 15, 2008, 02:19:19 pm »
Restoring a MKII cabinet.  All that i need is the speaker(s).  Guy i bought the cab from has the speaker still but he is next to impossible to get a hold of.  Been trying for almost a month.

Anyways, the cabinet has a big hole and a little hole.  Not sure what goes in there.  Been searching for one but cant find anything.  Dont really know what im looking for.

I believe it's probably the same setup as my MK1.  The speaker that goes with the big hole handles mid - bass, and the the other one high - mid.  One or both have a cap attached, I'd have to look when I get home.

My big speaker was missing when I got it, I just replaced it with a crappy one from WalMart and it sounds fine.

well i went outside and measured it.  looks like the big hole is 5 1/2" while the small looks like 2 1/4".  I was looking through the bottom mesh when i measured so i could be wrong on the sizes.  pretty sure the big one is 5 1/2" though.

no, those sound about right.
it is a woofer/tweeter set up, Im home but I cannot find my security torx bits so I cant get the mesh off and I dont see anything in the book with sizes. just get a speaker that wont fall through the hole and you should be ok =)  or msg mk3fan he has a MK1,2,4 dedicated and he build his own UMK3 so he should definitely know
