need help with puzzle bobble/bust a move
« on: May 13, 2008, 11:59:58 pm »
hey guys, i need some assistance. like alot of people,  i love a good game of puzzle bobble.  it is a big hit with the kids who play my cabinet as well.  the problem is, i find the vs mode annoying.  i would love to play 2 player vs mode, without the stupid random balls appearing. ( i know they are like attack patterns based on how well you do).  personally, i think it makes the game less fun.  i was hoping there was a way to disable that so that the VS mode worked just like the single player mode, only with 2 people.  i looked in the dip switch settings, and also in the F2 menu, but didn't see any way to disable these attacks.  so, i am asking you guys, is there a way to do this?  or if not, is there a good clone game that will do this?

this game is fun, but it is hard enough without random balls appearing in the middle of the game, it really takes all of the strategy out of the game.  so if any of you know of a way to play this game or a similar game without that, i would greatly appreciate it.   i have been looking through my romset, but there are so many games, it will take me months to look through them all.

thanks

I haven't ever seen a version that doesn't do that.

My personal biggest annoyance is that the Taito F3 version of Puzzle Bobble 2 will not let you coin up rapidly.
If I have it in my JAMMA cab, and the kids come over, they always hit the coin button too fast, and the game resets itself.
I don't know if the MAME version does that, but it's something to keep an eye out for.

And there's one version of the game that I highly don't recommend for kids.
I think it's called Magic Bubble 2000, or something similar.
It's definitely an adult game, in all senses of the phrase.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

There are two versions of Magic Bubble. Adult and regular.
