Smallest Game Cab Ideas or pics?
« on: May 10, 2008, 03:50:07 am »
Hey, I want to make a cab for a friend and throw in a new 19 inch monitor, 48 in 1 board, jamma harness, speaker, control panel and power supply. But I want to make it as small and lightweight as possible. It will only be one player, so I can shrink the control panel up. I figure the smallest width is the width of the vertical monitor plus a few inches. I want it to be about the normal height of the control panel and monitor, but no marquee.

Any pics, ideas, or suggestions?

Which wood is the best for something like this?

Thanks,

Brent

The problem there is that it is possible to make it so small and light that it will fall over too easily.

A scaled up version of Spacies bartop if you want a 19" with a 48-in-1

I made a couple with a 19" LCD.  The footprint is a little less than 2' by 2' but the height of the control panel and monitor allows me to play without hunching over.  (I'm 6'1)  No marquee, but there is a little backlit artwork.  They're probably a lot heavier than they need to be, (I used 5/8" MDF) but I wanted them sturdy -- Street Fighter Alpha 3 sessions between me and my friends can be abusive.

Please excuse the prefab control panels (I'm dealing with very limited tools and talent) and I'm sorry for the shoddy picture that doesn't show the coin door/credit buttons or anything in the front very well, but it's all I had available.
