Pushbutton Nut Issues - Anyone Else...?
« on: May 09, 2008, 02:40:28 pm »
I really feel like a moron asking this but for the friggin' life of, I can't get my last three pushbutton nuts on... been working around the problem ones and these are the remaining ones.  I've literally been trying this on and off for three days and I feel like an idiot and I wonder if anyone else has had this problem?  I've even taken the buttons out and just tried them that way, to see if the threading works and it won't work then either.

Is this a manufacturing problem or do I just need to keep at it?  I'm getting to the point of just going to buy a clamp or something for them because my fingers are so raw by now.

I had a few like that.  Take the button out and make sure they go on.  You may have a bit of plastic in the threads where the mold went together when they were made.  I had one that I had to trim a small peices of plastic out of the threads.  Then it went on ok..
Careful what you wish for you may get it!!

Ah, okay... I'll give that a shot.  Most of them went right on, no problem at all... just these last couple are driving me nuts.

did you order them all from the same place?
I had some that were from two places and it seems one of the places sold me knock-offs of Happs, and the nut was different. As long as I used the ones they came with, it was fine, but I had them all in a box and had to sort them all out first.

They're all from Divemaster so I'm assuming they're all legit.  They all say the Happ/Suzo thing on there for the button part but the nuts I'm not sure about... I'm assuming they're all Happ as well.

I ran into that problem if I tried to put a nut on the "wrong" pushbutton. I'm not positive about this, but since I had old pushbuttons (like 9 years old) and new ones (all from happ though), I figured there was a slight difference in the 2 production runs for whatever reason. For the nuts that were hard to get threaded on there, I just found pushbuttons that they would fit on. The other nuts that were ever so slightly larger fit on any of my pushbuttons, but the smaller ones only fit on a subset of pushbuttons.

Try that - I bet that will solve your problem!
