Space Gun 'guns'
« on: May 08, 2008, 01:58:03 pm »

I just got these finally.  (The seller took forever to ship them)

They could use some touch up paint but they seem to move around freely.

Okay questions...

How would I wire something like this up for MAME?  It's basically a joystick gun with triggers, not a real 'light gun'.

Second question... is anyone a Space Gun fan?  The guns have a shotgun style pump on the front.  Does anyone know if this is actually a fire mechamism like for a grenade launcher or something like that?

I'm trying to figure out how these originally worked and if maybe they can be used for not only Space Gun, but other joystick gun based games.

Thanks and excellent!

I like how you did your stand and I think I'll do something similar.  I was looking at my console and I agree, the guns would be too close to the screen.

I couldn't quite see what wires you connected and to where on the board.  I assume you went on a hack tutorial right?  Is that what the second link is?  I haven't checked it out yet but will right after this.

(Do you still have any of the T2 guns left?)

Also, it looks like the T2 gun has a solenoid 'thumper' in it.  Does your work and how are you powering it?

I have 8 brand new T2 guns available. I would sell it for $199 each shipped. These are direct from Midway before they went bust.

Re the "thumper" I do not have that activated. If you can, I don't know how.

I wired up based on the tutorial I directed you to...it take about a half hour but it's easy with really basic soldering skills. I recommend you print out the instructions in color....makes it a lot easier!

Good luck!
