Question About Coin Mechs
« on: May 29, 2003, 03:15:09 pm »
I just purchased a coin door from ebay (its an over under door, very similar to a happs).  Anyways, of course I did not realize it did not come with coin mechs, sooooo my question(s) are as follows.

Anyone use a Happs Ultimech Coin Mech before?  Will it accept Canadian .25 coins?  Will any Happs mech accept Canadian coins? (cept for the ones that expressly say they do).  I am hoping there is a fellow canuck on here that has experience in such matters.

Also I guess a second question would be, is there any arace distributor in canada that is similar to happs?  I doubt it of course, but it sure would be nice.

Anyways, thanks for the help!

canadian .25 cent coins are the same shape and size as american .25 cent coins.... but the weight is different.
The Happ coin mechs are adjustable to reject invalid weights. If it is adjusted correctly it will reject canadian quarters.  Not a problem, it is easily adjusted with a screw driver so they are no longer rejected.

I have an over/under with the mechs, NOS. Had to adjust it to accept the new american quarters... it was rejecting them 1 out of every 3 times.
Mucal invader, is there no end to your oozing?!

Or you can go to Starburst Coin in Mississauga and pick up a couple of Canadian coin mechs.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

i just recently was given an over/under coin door.. noticed one of the mechs would just reject the quarter.. i took it apart and found a canadian quarter magnetized to one of the parts.. just for fun after i reassembled it i tried the canadian quarter again.. it just got stuck and jammed everything up again..

this was with US 25 cent  mechs installed..

hope this helps..

Hi there...I purchased a couple of used 25cent CDN coin mechs from a guy in Winnipeg off Ebay quite cheap...and they are in excellent shape (almost like new!)  I know he has a few more of the CDN ones, as well as a whole wack of token mechs.  His name is John, and you can email him at:  jaxom@mts.net

Hope this helps...

Terry.

I have solved my problem (seller offered to send me mechs for free, even though he had no reason to).  Thanks to everyone for the help!

Much appreciated.

Seller probably had mechs laying around everywhere. I had at least 20 of the things laying around at one time. They tend to collect up pretty quickly, you end up with two of them every time you part out a game, or find an old coin door.
