If so, could you tell me how you have your pedals interfaced? Specifically, I am interested in what axis or input you have your pedals wired up to.
I am curious as to whether there is a perfect setup which works well for all games. I seem to be having problems with a few games, and I wonder if anyone else has the same problem.
I use a duel-circuit system which I *think* is probably the best choice, ie an axis (JOY1 Y) for throttle and another axis (JOY2 Y) for brake. I had a bit of trouble whereby releasing the gas pedal would more often than not, not completely release the gas in the game (the car keeps going). So to get around this, in the windows calibration screen, when told to centre the controller, I would put my foot on the pedal slightly. This basically works in quite a few games, although I have trouble in some games, namely Pole Position/2.
I can tell from the games' test screen that sometimes when I release the pedal, it goes from (a high number) to 00 as it should, but then when the pedal is completely released it 'wraps' to FF or FE. I am not sure what causes this...could it be my choice of axis, cheating in the calibration screen or a Mame issue? Funny thing is if I play around with the analog settings, sometimes it ends up working OK (until I quit the game and restart it).
I do remember always having this problem with Pole Position, and never could figure out why. I am determined to sort it out as this is one of the few games where having an analog pedal is pretty much essential to be any good at the game (when I briefly had it working, I got my top score last night).
Note that I am mainly using Mame v0.99, so the input system has no doubt changed since then. I have some games working ok in this version (eg RoadBlasters), and also Buggy Boy working fine in Mame v0.123.
Any suggestions?
