4-Way Joystick Getting "Stuck". Help!!!
« on: April 19, 2008, 10:10:51 pm »
I've got a red ball top 4-way Joystick that I had purchased from Mike's Arcade at the tail end of last year.  When I got it, everything seemed to be working fine.  In order to install it in my CP, I had to unscrew the four microswitches from the base.  The microswitches are like normal switches, but at the top where the "button" is there is a long metal piece that the bottom of the joystick presses and actuates the switch.

When I just went and installed the stick into my built control panel, I noticed that whenever I move the joystick, it gets "caught" underneath the microswitch.  The bottom piece doesn't appear to be long enough to press agains the metal piece and it gets caught underneath it as the joystick moves.  It looks like this could be an issue with the spring inside the joystick as the bottom part is directly in contact with the swing and shouldn't be moving "inward".

Does anybody know something I can do to fix this?

Okay, I'm a complete idiot.  I kind of forgot to put the white piece down at the bottom that prevents what was happening to me from happening.  Heh.  Next time I'll actually put everything together before I claim it's not working right.   ;D
