mame .78 full screen problems
« on: April 17, 2008, 07:05:39 pm »
i have loaded it all up perfectly and mamewah loads a treat and so do the games.. at full speed ! but some are the right size because they are newer and bigger resolutions and some load small because they are small !

i have created the .ini file but its quite a bit different to that of the newer mames.. can anyone please tell me how to get them all full screen?

by the way im running mamewah and the PC at 800x600 16bit

What type of setup do you have?  You may be forced to select "hardware stretch" in order to get it to fill the screen due to the multitude of different resolutions that arcade games have.  This will result in some degredation of quality, however, but from the sounds of your issue i believe that would get it to "fill up".
Donkey Kong High Scores:
1): 49,500
2): 35,600
3): 30,100
4): 29,400
5): 28,200

well hardware stretch or no hardware stretch it does absolute jack sh*t ! thanks for the suggestion ! but there is something extremly odd about the set up.

its a IBM T21 and as some may know only 800mhz P3 so a older mame is necessary, mamewah loads up ok and full screen but mame doesn't, when i change resolution from auto to 800x600 most of the games get err bigger ! but still no where near full screen ! and do you know whats really wierd ! i load the same games on my desktop PC using the same version of mame and its full screen ! now thats anoying

please help !

No, what I mean was "Are you using a TV, or an arcade monitor, or an LCD, or a computer monitor?"  ;D
Donkey Kong High Scores:
1): 49,500
2): 35,600
3): 30,100
4): 29,400
5): 28,200

I had the same issue sometimes.
What fixed it was playing with the flags for ddraw and direct3d
(I think set it to 1 and 0, respectively, but I could
be wrong).

Also, with a CRT your max resolution should only
be limited to 640x480.  With your LCD (what are
you using, switchable monitors?), depends but
probably a lot higher.

its a laptop and as its a cloned desktop both are 800x600

only problem for me is if i lower everything to 640x480 i gotta redesign my custom mamewah skin which i don't really wanna do..... i mean the newer mame is slow when playing the games but does play them full screen..

humm i will look into your comment thanks

A layout redesign is worth it. If you lower your resolution, the games will run faster.
