CPS3 Emulator v1.0a/Mamewah help (It's been a while)
« on: September 05, 2007, 12:32:32 pm »
Hey mates, long time no see.

Now that I finally have a new CPS3 platform to intergrate into my Cab (Mamewah based) Im wondering how to intergrate the new nebula-based CPS3 Emulator v1.0a (Found here: http://nebula.emulatronia.com/) so that it starts up properly from MAMEWAH v.92.

At this moment after playing with all the Send Rom Paths, etc... nothing seems to get it started, here's my cfg:

;LIST GENERATION SETTINGS
ROM Path = C:\EMULATION\CPS3\ROMS
ROM Extension = ZIP
List Generation Method = 0

;EXECUTION SETTINGS
Emulator Executable = C:\Emulation\CPS3\emulator.exe
Send ROM Path = True
Send ROM Extension = False
Use Long Filenames = True
Use Quotes around ROM Filenames = False
Show DOS Box = 2
Default Options =
Extra Options #1 =
Extra Options #2 =
Controls.dat Viewer Filename =
Controls.dat Viewer Default Options =
Launch Controls.dat Viewer before Game = True
IPC Filename / Path =

Running on XP

Any suggestions??

Don't really have an answer, but a question.  Why not just use the latest mame as it also has full cps3 support?

This topic has been dead for a while, but I thought I'd say something because I just got my Mamewah working with CPS-3 1.0a by the Nebula creator. (Also, hello everyone again, I haven't posted on here in years :D )

For my cfg, I came up with the following ini :

;LIST GENERATION SETTINGS
ROM Path = C:\EMULATION\CPS3\ROMS
ROM Extension = ZIP
List Generation Method = 0

;EXECUTION SETTINGS
Emulator Executable = C:\Emulation\CPS3\emulator.exe [name]
Send ROM Path = True
Send ROM Extension = False
Use Long Filenames = True
Use Quotes around ROM Filenames = False
Show DOS Box = 2
Default Options =
Extra Options #1 =
Extra Options #2 =
Controls.dat Viewer Filename =
Controls.dat Viewer Default Options =
Launch Controls.dat Viewer before Game = True
IPC Filename / Path =

Then in your emulator.ini for your CPS-3 emulator, make sure you have Autofull = 1 enabled. You will probably have to map a key to Alt+F4 to exit the program easily, but this is the best method I've come up with. The only reason why I don't like using Mame for CPS-3, is I haven't been able to find the proper no-chd files yet, and CHD cps-3 loading takes like 20 minutes a game :(

- hope this helps anyone else curious about this issue.

That ONLY happens the first time you run the game and it's the game loading the data from the "CD" to the "RAM" on the board.  Once it's loaded once, it is saved in the nvram of the game.  So if you are willing to just put up with the load times once (Hint:  unthrottle MAME while it's loading to get a very slight speed increase) you won't have to deal with it again unless you lose your nvram file.  Or, you could just get an nvram file and put it in the proper folder and never have to deal with it.  Once the nvram is there, it loads up might fast.
