Author Topic: Hey! Look what I got today...Mortal Kombat 4 (Read 7030 times)

My Mortal Kombat Kollection is nearly Komplete...

There are lots of gouges, and scratches all along the bottom of the cab on all sides, the machine as a whole is in pretty great condition. ALL the joystick/button microswitches need to be replaced and well as all the t-molding. Some touch-up will be required in some areas and the monitor needs some TLC as well. All-in-all, not too bad. Anyway, after I get it all cleaned up and ready to go, it will be moved inside and added to the Kollection.

The description was inaccurate as hell. Otherwise, I was very pleased. Only 4 days shipping time. When I got the cab, there we no locks on the coin doors, or the back door. Also, half the buttons stick (which didn't matter because I am replacing them all anyway), plus the monitor image was tilted to the left. This was caused by the yoke being askew. I fixed that, but none of this was mentioned in the description. I left him positive feedback becasuse I was happy to finally get an MK4, but disappointed with the condition of the machine. The sideart is immaculate though.

Nothing will ever beat MK II's side art. Something about Raiden just saying "Don't even THINK about ---smurfing--- with me" is pretty damned nice.

The askew yoke could possibly be a result of shipping. Plus I have usually found that games almost always need a monitor adjustment after being moved from one location to another.

I dont think its that bad either... Its definitely not as cool as some near naked chick on the side but its also not any less cool than MK1 sideart

Man, it looks like you got a STEAL on that cab! From the pics, it looks like it is in fantastic shape. So it looks like you're just missing a dedicated MK3 cab to go with your dedicated MK1, MK2, UMK3, and MK4 cabs.

Thanks. Actually, the UMK3 may look dedicated, but I built it from scratch for Mame purposes (see video below).

Was the mk3 cab built by studying other mk cabs or did you come up with your own design (I'm speaking mostly about the internal bracing and design)?

I just got the plans from Jakobud and designed my build around it. I have a photobucket album with all the pics from the video on it, but if you want more specific ones, I can post some. Lmk.

Sure there is. If you have a collection of MK Cabs, you need to have an MK Cab, an MK2 Cab, and MK3 Cab, Another MK3 cab with the UMK3 upgrade in it, and an MK4 cab.

Technically, you are right, but I have MK3 on the UMK3 Mame cab, so it's close enough. Got the cabs lined up together and thought I'd share some pics...

Ok, no more teasing. Here are some good tastes. These were recorded before I got the MK1 and MK4 cabs, plus I still had my Arkanoid cab as well. After I sold the Arkanoid and got the MK1 and MK4, the SW:T had to go in the garage...

I DID at one point restore a Street Fighter II...

You are also forgetting that the UMK3 cab is Mame...

And I also had an Arkanoid that I restored as well...

Oh, and let's not forget the Star Wars Trilogy...

Once I get some more room, there will be plenty of variety, then you can play something BESIDES MK.

I would love to someday have the room and finances to have an MK1, MK2, MK3, UMK3, MK4, SF, SF2: WW, SF2: CE, SF2: HF, SSF2, SSF2: Turbo, HSF2, SFA1, SFA2, SFA3, SFIII: NG, SFIII: 2I, SFIII: 3S, SFEX, SFEX Plus, SFEX2, SFEX2 Plus, and an SFIV cab in a gameroom. Basically, all of the MK and Street Fighter series in dedicated cabs.

That's one of those "If I win the Lottery" type daydreams.

As im revisiting your thread i looked at your mk3 cab and knew something looked different. I scored a cab UMK3 on sunday night that had a cracked flyback so im in the process of fixing that however mine was a dedicated machine. I noticed the speakers on yours and was like wait a minute, mine doesn't have those speakers. I scroll down to find the posting of how that's a MAME that you built from the ground up.

All i have to say considering i have a real one is that you did one hell of a job with that build! I was a huge umk3 fan on xbox 360 and n64 several years ago so i can't wait to get mine operational. Now i can get rid of my KI2 cab and not feel guilty about not having a fighter. Only knock i have on UMK3 is that there are TOO many cyborg fighters but that's ok as i use jax a majority of the time.

BTW is $300 too much for a UMK3 cab with a bad monitor (flyback needs replaced)?
