LCD Topgun Defective?
« on: April 13, 2008, 06:28:55 am »
Whenever I point my lcd topgun in the direction of the sensor bars the laser pointer will not come on, despite the switch being turned on, the switch on the bottom of the gun being set to "P" for PC, attempted to be plugged into several (working) usb ports, and having SMOG's drivers correctly installed for the gun, and STILL the gun WILL NOT work. The only way to access the laser so far is to hold down A+B, but then I CANNOT exit hardware calibration mode, I have to unplug the gun to get it out of that mode. What am I doing wrong, is the gun just defective, and if so, does www.play-asia.com accept trade-ins or refunds?

Download the troubleshooting driver and get a pretty picture of what the camera in the gun is seeing. If you see more than the white dots from the bars in the image, you have other IR (heat) sources that are confusing the gun, or you might have reflections from the sensors themselves coming of a wall or something etc... I would check that out before concluding the gun is defective..  Also, make sure you stand far enough back that the gun can see all 5 sensor arrays, or it just won't do any good.
