Coin Door issue, need some technical help
« on: April 09, 2008, 02:10:35 pm »
Hey guys, I recently restored my SF2 arcade cabinet and got it all MAMEd up etc...

Everything works, including the coin door, except, it won't allow coins to pass through properly, seemingly no matter what I do...

What can cause this?  I can open the door and press the credit button to give myself credits (indicating that it's properly wired and thus working), but, any time I put a quarter in, it "catches" it, and I have to push in the coin return thing and it then drops it into the coin return, no credit...  I've looked at it, but, mechanically I can't really figure out what might be causing it to catch all quarters...

Does anyone have a guide or some info on this?  Google is confounding my efforts today...

First, make sure they are quarter coin mechs and not token mechs.

Next, there's a screw on the coin mech that you need to losen just a bit.

It's too tight, causing the mech to trap the quarter. If you losen it too much it will cause the coins to drop straight through to the reject tray so try it a little bit at a time.

That's exactly what it sounds like; wrong kind of mech for the coin type you're inserting.
