the music made me punch a baby in the face. instead of watching the vid, I paused it, let it load all the way and dragged the slider across. looks like a giant waste of money

May be a huge waste of money, but, put that in your portfolio and you could get a job building stuff like that probably just about anywhere.

I know if I was an Amusement Park owner, I'd hire the guy who built that to rig me up some arcade machine cabinets, or even theater seats, or, heck, if he can do that with all those hydraulics and everything?  Just about anything...

I'm impressed.

If I could build something like that though, it'd have a good option to put away the wheel and whip out a normal control panel for P1 and 2... if you're spending that much time and money, you gotta get more than just driving games in there :)

Thats like the coolest project idea with the most cheesy setup I've ever seen all rolled up in one.  Are you looking like 3 feet above your head when you're sitting in the car seat?  :P

looks like a giant waste of money

Especially since most people consider it a good use of money to collect 300 pound boxes of wood, containing 25-year-old technology just to play some crappy 8-bit games ...

Hello
Ok my initial thoughts are that has to be the worst music I have ever heard.  The guy can build a transformer like arcade game, but he can't download a descent mp3 song?

besides that.. the idea is very cool... however the design is a little odd, and I agree that the parts like the seat are mold looking..why not get a new one???

thx

Why does everyone keep saying it was a lot of money? The Logitech G25 is like 250 bucks. The rest of it just looks like limit switches, vinyl carbon fiber sticker and standard hardware store tracks and plywood.

Not denying it is clever, but even minus the junkyard car seat you can tell it wasn't a huge money build.

I'd rather eat an ice cream cone filled with cat ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- than tolerate that music again.

The idea is OK. I half expected some sort of arcade cabinet controls rising out of the floor like a Phoenix. Instead we're treated to some video footage, with crap music, of a driving seat in the neck breaker section of a movie theater. Why spend all that time and effort building a driving seat that you have to climb down below the floor to use?

Maybe the screen is motorized too, and adjusts to the correct height?

Cool concept, and great execution from a project standpoint, but so many things could have been done better.

And I hate those whack chairs he has "above ground"!

Cool idea but not all that great.

You have to wait 5 minutes just to get into it, your head has to be in a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- position the whole time, if you're going to spend that kind of money why not some decent chairs? Lawn Furniture and a old moldy car seat.

To me it would have been cooler if he just had 2 nice recliners and a cockpit built right between them, but hey to each their own.

And yes the music sucked

The music sucks until you get to 5:37... When Fleetwood Mac "The Chain" fades in.... The reason he used that was because Formula 1 Racing in the UK, when it was on BBC 1 always had that as the title music.

Personally I'd have made the video a bit shorter and stuck to classic stuff like that for the music.

yeah but I dont have to wait 5 minutes to play  my 25 year old Mortal Kombat 2 that came out 13 years ago thats not 8bit  ;)

by waste of money I meant... he could have had a car's seat on a piece of wood that rolled out in front of the screen woulda taken less time effort, and looked better

Well there is a few pros and cons to this set up....which we will not all agree  on. However we can all agree on one thing.  That video is too long to show this thing....its like prom night build up and then total disappointment.. eheh...

more importantly that music is terrible, I would have rather listened to prince, rick astley, kriss kross, or michael jackson than that.... L:)

maybe someone could post other types of car arcades...

Maybe he is related to Turnarcades? We all know Turnarcades is an American living in the UK (he was also borne there, but he is still an American {with UK citizenship}). Atleast Turnarcades uses basic and straightforward design principals when building stuff tho... (I mean REALLY, do you need a neck brace to play that damn thing??? I half expected that the thing would rise up out of the floor so it would look confortable to play...)

Other than that: still a cool idea. This guy should add ergonomics to his list of skills tho, he would go far.

I would not judge it till you sit in it.  I would hope that since he did the work to make it he would have made sure it was at the right height to see as it should.
