Projected Dance Pad
« on: April 05, 2008, 10:35:14 am »
Maybe this is old news, but I thought it was pretty cool.. A virtual dance pad based on the same technology that they use with the PDS projected laser keyboards..

Don't know if its going anywhere, but it sure would be a neat way to integrate a dance pad into your cabinet.

The keyboards are at best buggy and irritating to use, so I somehow doubt that the dance pad will be any better. Interesting though.

As far as I've heard (never actually used one) the biggest complaint with those is a lack of tactile response. With a dancepad that's much less of a problem.
It also doesn't need to be as accurate as a keyboard, what with the "buttons" being around 25x bigger. Definately something I'd look at if I were considering a dance pad for my cabinet.

It sure needs to be faster than the keyboard, though.  If you don't have dead accurate timing it is useless for a music game.
