Dedicated 4-way and Buttons.
« on: March 29, 2008, 02:25:22 pm »
To those of you who have a dedicated 4-way joystick on your panel, what buttons do you use when our playing a 4-way game?

Example:  you use Player 1's set of six buttons but use the 4-way joystick instead of the 8-way

I see a lot of control panels that have two or three buttons next to the dedicated stick.  do you use those as the buttons?

i have dedicated buttons next to my 4way stick, but i am in the process of building a new panel, and I am no longer going to have these buttons.  all of the 4way games that I play are 1 player, or 2 player alternating..so i have mame configured to use player 1 or player 2 buttons for these games, so you can use either hand, without any extra buttons.  this is also the case for spinner and trackball games

anyone else? my 4-way is going to be near the top center of the panel.  so using player ones buttons will be kind of awkward unless you use the joystick with your right hand.

i dont see how you can use player twos buttons unless the 4-way was wired to player two.

I have separate buttons on my control panel for the 4 way.  I have 2 on each side, that way a left or right handed person can play. (shown in black in the picture below)

Yep, nice and simple.
