wireing the IPAC to buttons and joysticks....
« on: May 26, 2003, 03:51:10 am »
Ok, heres the scoop.   I have IPAC4 and i am setting up a 4 player panel.   My panel  has 6 actual player buttons  per player (the standard street fighter layout) plus the happ super joysticks for each of the 4 players and the one coin button and one player start button for each player as well. Thats it , no other buttons  or devices.
Now what im  trying to figure out  is how to know which button to hook up to ipac board so the buttons work out naturally without haveing to reprogram everything.
Is there any panel examples out there that show how to setup the wireing so each button is hooked up to the right button for standard mame play?    Basically, i want the player one & two buttons  to be where all the punches are on the top row and the kicks are on the bottom row for street fighter 2 play.
I think i could figure out the other palyer 3 & 4 wire setup if i could just get the 1 &2 player setup right.
I didnt think it would be as confuseing as this lol pretty much what ive been learning all along. lol   EVERYTHING can be confuseing until you've done it a few times when  it comes to all this stuff :)
But, on the plus side, i want to thank everyone for all the help you've given me so far and thanks for putting up with all my specific questions i have had to ask along the way.  I dont know where i would be without everyones help thats for sure. :)

I wired my buttons to the IPAc as so:

123
456

1 to BT1, 2 to BT2, 3 to BT3, and so on...it was already set perfect for mame this way.

pretty straight forward.  8)

best of luck!  ;)

NAH,  as im sure you know rampy the tweaking is never done. lol
I'm already figureing out what i dont like about the current layout and thinking of ways to try to improve it.  hehehe
My kids are hitting  hard and heavy on the 4 player action at the moment. lol.
I own the slikstick, but only the two player version and the kids were always fighting about whos next and such, so i told them now theres NO FIGHTING!!! lol.
Either they play a 4 player game or they don't play! :)
Well, you guess which one they decided , because like i said, they are all hitting it pretty hard lol.
I must say it is VERY rewarding when you finally get it all done and fire it up and everything works the first time out.   whew.
*wipes the sweat off the brow*   lol
