Cocktail Conversions
« on: March 28, 2008, 01:59:39 pm »
Hi,

I have limited funds and I want to make a cocktail arcade cabinet.  I know I can cut one out and make it with available plans, but I want to convert an existing coffee table or occasional table.

Has anyone have any pointers or suggestions that could help me?

I want it to look like a used piece of furniture not a gameroom piece.

If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

I've spotted a few projects where someone converted Ikea tables into a cocktail table. Ikea currently has a couple (or three) glass top tables that look like they might lend themselves well to such a project. A few non-glass tops look like they can be converted as well.

Or hit the thrift stores and see what you find.

Here is a thread that SavannahLion is probably thinking of
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76916.msg801692#msg801692

I've also seen this coffee table converted

Check out this slick looking piece of furniture

And this one isn't converted either , but kind of looks like furniture

Mine was done on a $300 budget and is meant to fit in (course it is on wheels  :) )

Good luck on your project, keep us informed !

Lots of great ideas thank you for them.

I shall research your offerings and respond back with my progress.

I like CRTs better than LCDs, and I have space issues too, but I cannot wait!

Nice idea about the Thrift stores too.
