Solution for turning on ELO Touchscreens

For my Juke Box www.adisweb.com/jukebox I built in an ELO touchscreen that I purchased off of EBAY.  It was de-cased and the only way to turn it on was via little buttons on the side.  I needed a way to turn the monitor on and off after everything was put together.  I noticed that if I left the until on and unplugged it from the wall it would come back on when I plugged it back into the wall.  So, I was at CostCo the other day and they had a remote control to turn on outlets.  I picked one up and it works like a charm!!  For 15 bucks I can now turn on the speakers and monitor via a little remote control.  I always leave the computer on anyway since it acts as my FTP server. 

Just thought I would mention this in case people are looking for a way to turn the ELO Monitors on and off.

That's cool!  I was looking into doing something similar with my touchscreen.  I want to build it into the side of the bookshelf next to my couch or set it into my coffee table.  That way I can use it as a remote for my media center pc/tv.  I would love to see more details about the build.

FWIW, post-Christmas clearance sales are a great time to pick up those kinds of remote controls because they are sold for turning on Christmas tree lights.  Of course, the plugs and remotes are green, but 75% at Target makes it worth it IMO.

It's really nothing too special.  I have recently made some adjustments with how the hardware is laid out underneath the monitor to take care of some heat issues I was having.  I'm still in the process of getting my MP3 collection in order which is a whole project in itself!
