Need Cable Schematics for Minipac USB
« on: March 24, 2008, 10:47:46 am »
Anyone lend a hand with this? I am trying to make a USB cable for my minipac.
I have tried the USB to PS2 adaptor and I still can not get a trackball to work, so I thought if I just made one I might get it to work.
Thanks In Advance......

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Cable worked great, thanks for the diagram.

Still No luck getting the Atari Trackball working with the minipac though. I just do not know what I am missing..... The trackball works Perfectly with a mouse hack.
Windows 98  Detected theUSB "button joystick trackball" interphase upon restarting buttons work, trackball does not.
Am I missing a Driver or something?

Well, after tinkering for what I thought was forever, days upon days of reading, I finally found an answer that got my trackball working  ;D
The was ONE post WAY back when, that stated that to use any other trackball than the "Special" one with the Minipac there needed to be 4 2.2k pull-up resistors placed on the outer pins and common tied to ground. One on each leg. Doing that made it work perfectly, and without a re-boot.
All of my controls came from old, gutted games like a pole position, centepede, ect... all badly damaged in one way or another. So just buying new controls for me was out of the question. But all in all, it now is working great and I can finally play Quake Arcade TE in that cab and not have a pile of "extra" wires laying about.   8)  ;D
