Getting the most out of my new U360s
« on: March 21, 2008, 02:37:03 pm »
Greetings all.  Relatively new poster here, although I've done the occasional comment in the distant past under an old username.  For the record, and for laughs, my cab is that one that everyone said not to buy for $100 recently... a converted Dynamo "solitaire challenge" bartop/cabaret hybrid weirdo that's just too small for everything (not the same one, jost one of that type).  I only paid $50 for it though and the trackball's good, gonna build another one that's better, but now to get to the point:  my cab is better than it was, because I just got my ultrastick 360's the other day (thanks Andy!).

Now I'm trying to maximize their potential.  I presume that everyone uses joy2key to address those apps which don't allow joystick input (using a joystick as a plunger in VP for instance), I'm going to go set that up in a bit, but where I've hit a snag is on newer PC games such as Veck which are dual-analog capable but only recognize one control input.

So here's the real question: is there any way to bind Ultrastick 360s (or I guess any single-stick analog controls) to behave as though they are separate sticks on a single gamepad?  I think this could be incorporated into the driver if Andy wished to do it, but is there any current solution?

Anyone?  Is there no way to do this, or is the question stupid, did I just overlook something obvious?  Surely there's got to be some utility to do this, maybe coming out of the driving cab community?  I just want to play Gridwars with full analog on the u360s...

I kind of got some of these dual-stick games (not gridwars, but echoes and one other one) to work by assigning the right stick to the mouse, but it doesn't play the same that way.

Well, anyway, I'm sure enjoying the hell out of Paperboy with these things!
