I can understand the desire to promote a contest, and to promote arcade controls...
Yet...
Having people purposely destroy working gamepads is Environmentally Irresponsible.
I used to work in a place that supposedly recycled old PC equipment. You wouldnt believe it...
the waste came from ONE mega company. Every day, several pallets would come it.
Imagine a pallet of old printers stacked 6ft high. Now imagine a room filled with those
pallets. Actually, not a room. An entire warehouse building floor! Im talking like
500 pallets... and growing every day.
Only select things like PCs and Monitors were salvaged and resold to poor countries. Yet
probably 85% was trucked off to a Dump.
Precious metals wasted, chemical laden materials seeping into our lands and water sources.
It was sickening. And to think... this was only ONE company... and not an entire world
worth of it.
The point it... why not come up with a better promotion than to destroy working
devices?
Hell, how about you donate your 'unused' Joypad to a less fortunate area who
could use it instead? A gamepad that takes you two hours of work to be able to
afford here... may take 7hrs work to be able to afford in Taiwan... or 15hrs
in the Philippines.
