Hi newbie with lil prob?
« on: March 17, 2008, 06:03:11 pm »
Hello all been browsing this site for a few months now and finally joined-some fantastic projects in here. I have just built a pretty rudimentary cab-compared to some machines on here-and have a little problem- Using a minipac with 2 player config with 6 buttons each-for streetfighter etc. and buttons 5+6 on player 2 side are not working-i've tried changing the microswitches in buttons with no joy-the wires are correct for these switches-red & brown-and everything else seems fine-BTW using easymame is there a setting in there i've maybe missed?

Thanks to anyone who could shed some light and who reads.

Regards, John.

My first thought...

Are these the last switches on the 0v line? If so, check for 0v continuity to these two.

Check MAME (press 'tab' in game and go to 'input settings (this game)').  I believe player two buttons 5 and 6 are either not mapped to anything or seem to have changed recently.  I had the same issue a while back and when I went into the MAME input settings, they were both blank.

Wow quick response cheers-  st those switches are mid loom-not the last 2 on the earth.

ahofle i will have a look at what you suggested i did try looking in game settings & preferences but didnt use TAB to get into input mode-will it just be a box to tick or do i need to type in something?

Thanks again.

While Mame is running you press the tilda (~) keyboard key to bring up the Mame configuration menu.   You can then go into "Input General" (for general "all games" mappings) or "Input This Game" (for specific game mappings only).

Once you are in the configuration menu you can scroll down to "Player2 Button 5" (ie: P2B5 ?) and then press ENTER to indicate you are ready to apply a keyboard key mapping to the P2B5 map value.  You can then press the button (ie: keyboard key) you want to use for P2B5.    Press ESC when you are done to exit the menus.
