Keypad programming...
« on: May 22, 2003, 02:58:06 pm »
Well after a bit of research, I've decided to use a USB number keypad for my jukebox. The key labels were a minor issue, but even more so was the stupid numlock key. Even with instructions if someone hit teh numlock key it would cause confusion.

The answer?

Edit the registry and remap the keys. I just stuck a quick how-to (to be made pretty later) of how to remap the keys. I made the . the 0 key and the big 0 key is now a cancel key. The keypad I bought was actually a USB MAC one so it has an extra key on it ( an = key) that normally in windows does nothing, but now I can make it do whatever I want.  8)

Take a look at the software page at http://www.mametrixreloaded.com to see how it's done.

I love the ability to re-map the keyboard! I have my work one re-mapped for some time now. I needed an "=" key on my number pad (I missed it from my old mac, why don't windows keyboards have it anyway?) so I remapped the num-lock to be "=" (I never use the num-lock key anyway). I do ALOT of work in excel and was contantly hitting the "F1" key when trying for "F2". I loads the help file and takes forever on my machine and renders it useless until it loads completely and I can close it. So I re-mapped the "F1" to be num-lock and scrapped "F1" entirely.
