coin door
« on: March 09, 2008, 12:53:16 am »
Do coin doors come with wires attached already or some kind of harness or do they come blank and I attach the wires from MY harness in order for it to work?!

Do you mean coin door, or coin mech? Coin doors are just the "front end" of the system, the coin mech is the unit that does the coin comparison and therefor the actual work.

new or used...?

new...i have no idea...never dealt with a new coin door...

used...sometimes...my coin door that i got used came with everything...it had a harness with a connector that i had no female end to...so i just wired directly into it...not a big deal to bypass the harness...

Greatly depends on the coin door, mech vendor etc. If you are looking for a simple solution in a MAME cabinet, Ultimarc's coin door comes with a small harness that connects to the PC power supply, and the coin input and ground wire of the i-pac.

Sometimes, but not typically in my experience. I think of all of the coin doors that I have ever purchased (all used), only one had a harness attached (and, since the molex didn't match the harness that I had in the cab, I pulled it).

Expanding on protokatie's question:

Can you provide details as to the coin door that you are looking at and for what purpose (e.g. emulator ... MAME ... cab, etc.) ? Pics are worth their weight in gold.

well this is for a jamma cabinet I'm building and I wanted a coin door with working mechs. so I can insert coins for credits.

Now do I connect 2 wires from my jamma harness for the coin mechs. and 2 wires from my power supply to the lights in order for it to work.

Pretty much I would like to know what wires go where and where do they come from....sorry for the confusion.
