Star Wars Trilogy (diy) possible?
« on: March 04, 2008, 11:13:28 am »
Friend of mine expressed interest in this machine...

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9777

Question is:

How does this game run in MAME?  Choppy?

Does someone know of a joystick that would be comperable when hooked to MAME?

Or is the only way to do this machine right would be to purchase the game board and original joysticks etc...

Thanks.

Choppy might be complimentary.  At this point, you'd be better off just buying the machine.

I seem to recall that game uses this joystick:

Always felt much too light for my liking.

you are of course joking aren't you.....  No way will this game run in Mame. It'd require Hardware 3D to be implemented, to even think about running. Mame Devs don't seem to be interested in that.

If you really want it your only hope is to buy a complete machine, 0r buy a complete set of boards and the hard drive and build one.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

I do all old school games in MAME.  That's why I was unsure as to the state of 3d acceleration and what not.

Will let him know that buying the boards and building the cabinet is the best bet.

They come up on ebay all the time, for alot less.
You should be able to get one under $50 shipped easily.
I think I paid $20 shipped for mine.

I'm pretty sure that Star Wars Trilogy arcade has some force feedback too... so although the basics of the stick are the same, they are quite different underneath...

I considered this at some point... but then lost my gumption.  I really enjoy the game and its too bad it has not been ported to other platforms...

save your ca$h and get the complete unit... I would even settle for the upright for the house...
