MAMEROOM.COM (Ordered New Control Panel)
« on: March 03, 2008, 02:33:04 pm »
I just ordered my new control panel this morning from MAMEROOM.COM

I ordered a 2 player control panel built /w a custom option to have it built like there SLICKSTIK CLASSIC Series /w pinball button holes on the sides

total was 122.10
74.99 2 player layout
24.99 custom layout option
22.12 (i think for the shipping)

Just wanted to know if anyone else has used this web site to order anything.

By the way I had a couple of questions on the custom order and i emailed Scott Glazer  @ mameroom.com

what a friendly guy, answered all my emails and I even talked to him on the phone about the order and was happy to answer my question.

Does the price include controls and interface or just the wood to make the panel with the holes pre-routed to your specs?

I ordered the UAII kit from Scott a couple weeks ago. Received it last Thursday and put it up this weekend. I am very happy with the cabinet. They seem to do great work over there and I would highly recommend them. I haven't had a lot of contact with him as it was a very straightforward order, so I can not really comment on that aspect. When I did send emails though, I received a very prompt and courteous reply.

How many days between the day you ordered and the day you received it? How long did it take for you to build?

Took 9 days to receive (I'm in Phoenix, AZ). I spent about 20 minutes cleaning all the dust and foam from the panels, then about 3 hours build time going very slowly and reading the directions carefully so as not to screw up (includes another 15-20 minutes verifying the parts list). It was really easy, but you need a second person to get the top on. Two people during the whole process could probably do it in an hour if they rushed, but I think between 2 and 3 hours is a good time to expect.

If you've ever bought a desk at Ikea or something, it's very similar to that.

[edit] Wanted to clarify that it was 9 days from when I ordered. Shipped 5 days after I ordered and arrived 4 days after shipping. It was a very reasonable time even though I'm incredibly impatient.

 8) Please provide pics!! It would be helpful to see how you got it to fit, I will have to do some modding to my cab as well, when I get a CP :)
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

mameroom.com is an AWESOME site!!!!!

Scott is super nice, my UAII cabinet came in under a week, and was super simply/easy to put together (well...so far, I'm 75% done and it only took me 2-3 hours)

update to my Mameroom control panel

Well, when i recived it i knew it was gonna be to big for my arcade

luckily, I have a friend that does construction for Kaiser Medical
i traded some work out (he needed his computer fixed)
He cut some notches out on the back of the control panel so it could fit flush with the arcade

WHAT A  GREAT JOB HE DID!!

I am taking the work camera home today to take some updated picks of the control panel
with the notches cut out

I do have one issue with mameroom
When i but the control panel together before the modifications were made.
I did notice that the Drop in assembly cams did not fit snug to the cutouts made
After i put together the control panel it felt very loose and the sides could come off easly

over the weekend I went over to harbor fright Tool (i'm not sure if you guys have heard of this place) really great spot for tools (I can go insane in there buying tools!!)

I picked up some gorilla glue and 4 C-Clips (6" @ 2.99 GREAT PRICE!)

I ended up gluing the assembly cams to the wood so it would not fall off!

Anyone else had problems with the cams being loose in there holes?
