Does anyone know where I can find a good tutorial on building a PC joystick from scratch?
Also nice would be force feedback.

I don't have a link handy for you...  I'm not sure what you are asking, or rather, i'm pretty sure you don't know what you are asking (but that's okay)

I'm pretty sure regardless that force feedback would be difficult to implement, depending on what you meant... (maybe some rumbling, possible)

What do you mean exactly by build a joystick from scratch?  Do you mean construct a stick literally from scratch, or to make a desktop arcade controller say like x-arcades, slik stiks, or hot rod?

Just wondering/want clarification...

I do not really know what I'm asking  
I would like to build a joystick from scratch. Meaning, I would like to physically build it to my liking. My goal would be to make controls for MS Flight Simulator, but I know basically nothing on the subject. I would love if there was a site or tutorial which could tell me what I need to know/learn.

ahhhh that helps, but unfortunately I don't have any links for you.  

There's a big community of people who DIY stuff for flight simulation out there.  If you could find some of those I'd bet they'd have good info... if I stumble upon anything i'll post it here.

there are so many ways to go about a joystick but the principles are much the same.

this is good site for a VF style stick. Much of the principles are the same depending on how you want to mount a stick. I have lots of pictures all over my site but have not done a tutorial because I sell stuff.

Depending on how much you want to do yourself, there are different ways to get into this.

Like I can sell you a pre-wired encoder board. Serial or USB... You can also get a donor joystick case from www.redoctane.com The sticks there use not so good parts but their cases are a good size. I'm building off of these cases now to lower my costs.
