« on: May 21, 2003, 03:05:48 am »
I was wondering what gage of wire to use for joysticks & buttons when wireing to the IPAC controller?

Also, any wireing tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

I used 22 gauge stranded.......and invest in .187 quick disconnects (females), a good crimping tool, and some ice to put on your hand when you're done (if you're making a 4 player CP that is heh heh heh).

dont' go to radio shack.  They only sell the disconnects in bags of 10!

Home depot doesn't have the small ones... only the larger ones (at least mine does)

TrueValue hardware sells them cheap (or they did in New Mexico... I need more so I will buy some soon)

Where is a good source for 22 guage stranded wire?  My Home Depot and Lowes do not carry anything smaller than 18.   ???

I use the connectors from HD and they work alright....you have to give them a slight crimp with the crimper to get them to hold snugly.  Not fun as others have said.  on My 4 player CP I crimped TWICE as much.    :'(

I bought 1000 feet of 22 Gauge wire on eBay for 14.00, Ive wired three monster panels and still have plenty for more. Its orange with blue stripes (ugly but cheap). Aircraft grade.

Get the 90 foot spools at radio shack for like 4 bucks a spool....that way you can get black and red, to make it easier to know whats going where.  It is called "Hookup wire" and should be near the speakerwire.
