7/8" tmolding..is black the only option?

i got a hold of a cab and im looking to give it a new look

the width of wood is 7/8" now ive looked and looked and black is the only tmolding i can find

i want a green colored one to match happy any ideas on how i can either paint a black one or get a hold of green 7/8" tmolding?

I have to apologize.  I didn't see the 7/8" when I read your post this AM.  I haven't been feeling well and I snapped at you (in Internet fashion, of course).  I was speaking generally regarding color.

I had the same problem myself and here's what I found:

I believe you can only fine 7/8" t-molding in black.  It is also sometimes referred to as 14/16".  I scoured the web and called up places and they either had black or black leather.  No other colors.   

The closest that you can get to the size that you want is 13/16".  The good news is that you can get other colors besides black.  The bad news is that it is just shy of 14/16".  But if you are using a router to cut the slot, you can off set it by 1/16" and then paint the bottom black (or use a black Sharpee) and chances are that no one will notice.

Even if you can manage to find a paint that won't chip or flake, the most minor nick is going to ruin it. As soon as someone with a twisted wedding ring puts their hands on the edge or when you decide to move the cabinet, the paint is going to get nicked and the look is going to be ruined.

I know how you feel. I've been wanting 9/16 black for some time. Neither Happ or t-molding offer black in that size. t-mold does, but their service has been reported as utter crap. The only place I've seen that may offer T-Molding in weird sizes might be Outwater Plastics. I haven't queried them yet.

Vinyl dye might work (it seeps into certain plastics, hence it being a "dye" rather than a paint). You could always test it on a small piece first.

Just keep in mind that T-Molding.com, Happ and T-Mold specifically cater to the arcade market. From what people write about and from what I see on T-molding's website, T-Molding goes through a lot of effort for color matching, such as their Galaxian Green. Anyhow, I digress. Outwater seems to cater more to a general market. So it's difficult to tell from their catalogue just how their colors will turn out. I might order their samples just to compare with what the others have out there.

I know this isn't a great solution, but has anyone ever thought of using electrical tape? I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to give it a shot on my cab. If you are patient and judicious it could turn out pretty good by just overlaying the tape on top of the molding (either trim the edge or fold under) to get the desired color. Probably not perfect, but who's going to study your t-molding that closely?

Just a thought.

[edit] I just looked and it seems like most electrical tape is 3/4" so it would actually be too small, but I'd have to think that someone makes a 1" colored tape that would work.
