Sanwa JLF 4 Way operation

I have been playing with my Sanwa Restrictor plate after seeing how it can be turned from the square to the more diamond orientation which I believed would be the 4 way mode. Although I am less likely to hit daigonals and thus 2 switches it is still possible. Is this normal and should I be looking at a different restrictor plate?

JLF has crap 4way mode
only JLW or LS32
