Convex buttons...
« on: June 26, 2002, 11:26:27 pm »
I was just wondering what everyones opinon was on convex buttons.  I love my japanese arcade buttons.  I can't deside if it's because they are convex, or if it's the way they don't click.  They are weird little horizontal switches.  They just seem smoother.  Anyways, I need more buttons.  I'm planning on buying 12 more, all in black.  I would import buttons from Japan, but they are twice as expensive, and they don't seem to come in black.  I was looking at happs competition buttons.  Just wondering if anyone else used them, and how they liked them...

I like the Happ horizontal microswitch, but I personally like the clicking noise.  Buttons are way too personal of a choice to know what is the "right" button.  I never have liked the convex, but you might consider, if it is just the clicking that bothers you, to get some leaf switch buttons.  They are click free.

Also, if you are building a cab that you will enjoy for years to come, what difference does it make if you have to save up a little bit longer to get the Japanese buttons that you know you like.  I say baby your cabinet.

I haven't actually put the buttons into use yet, but having put one together to see how it feels, I can say that it's nice.. no sticking, and fast action.. but has a noticable clicking noise.. it isn't quiet.

Still, though, they come in black and should make for a nice fighter CP along with the Competition joys.. mmm.. square actuation :P~~

If I'm not mistaken, the Happs competition pushbuttons are convexed, however I'm not positive on this.  Can anyone verify this?  If that is the case, I don't think you need to import buttons from Japan.
