J-Stick 4 way feel
« on: February 22, 2008, 12:17:49 pm »
Hi all, Just got Control panel operational and I am using a Ball top J-Stick. Stick itself feels loose and games like donkey kong I am having hard time climbing ladders. It's not very responsive. I made sure the rotation plate was in 4 way mode. Should I possibly be using a different joystick for 4 way games or is there anything else I can do to adjust?

My j-stic(s) work just fine in 4-way mode. one thing i noticed is if you do not have the screws that hold the restrictor plate to the bottom tightened snugly, they can loosen over time and make the action feel well...loose.

so try tightening the screws up nice and snug...not too tight you don't want to crack the restrictor.

is the joystick activating the microswitch properly when you press the up direction? Maybe a bad microswitch?

Yes, its not a switch problem, It doesnt always hit switch. Like I said stick feels loose so sometimes when you push up it doesnt always work.

In that case, the microswitches are probably too loose on the joystick, so that pushing the joystick up actually moves the microswitch up instead of activating the up direction on the joystick. Try to find a way of keeping the joystick microswitches steady.
