The IPAC is the best thing since sliced bread and bubble gum...
It can't be beat for interfacing arcade controls to a PC.
Bad batches of products or components can always slip through, regardless of how tight quality control standards are. I work as a manufacturing engineer for one of the largest corporations in the world, so I've seen stuff like this all the time.
The key point to remember is this...did people come into this board kicking and screaming that they got no support from Andy at Ultimarc? NO. As soon as Andy knew there was a problem, he posted to this board, and offered to fix the situation for anybody with this issue. I believe the fix was as simple as swapping out the bad eprom chip with a new one.
That level of service and commitment to the customer should be commended...
And, if that doesn't convince you, the IPAC does things and has features that you can't find in any standard keyboard encoder, period.
So there you have it...great, unique product at a great price with great support...you make the call.

No, I'm not a paid actor, I'm an actual happy customer.
