TV volume doesn't work (unless I turn it waaaaaay up)
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:33:32 pm »
I turned my TV off... and then on (probably a bit too fast) and the sound doesn't work now unless I turn it way way up (but it's all staticy when I do that).  Is my TV fried?  It's a 15 year old 19" Samsung so it's not the end of the world - I'd just rather not have to get a new one for the bedroom... If there's a quick fix I'd love to hear it.

Could be as simple as a melted wire to the speaker terminals, could be a ruined internal amplifier. At that age I'd swing for a new one anyway.

Try and get the shell off, but if the plastic is moulded on around the parts you need to view, forget it - you'll chip it to bits trying to prise parts off.

You could get a cheap TV from the newspaper ads or craigslist from around your neighborhood.   I bet you could get a good 27" TV for $50 or $70 only.

... or try Ebay .. I got a 19" CRT monitor for only $20 USD  8)
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."
