Maybe this is the wrong forum but.... I've built a my upright MAME cabinet, a touchscreen jukebox and a DVR and now I want a new project. Any ideas? I want to build a cocktail MAME table eventually but my wife won't go for that at this point.

Why not scratch build or restore a cab for your favourite game, complete with PCB etc...

Build a Star Wars cockpit from scratch.
Wish list: Galaga, Pacman, Pooyan, Star Wars cockpit, Gauntlet, Tron

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.

I'm with you, Kajoq - I have a 66 mustang that *normally* consumes my free time but lately that time has gone to finally finishing the mame cab, at the request of the wife. ;D

Another hobby that I really enjoy that has applications with cabinet builds and many others is metalworking. My centipede cab's original panel was metal, so I figured I'd build a mame cp with metal. It's fun and rewarding, but time consuming unless you have the $ to spend on expensive metalworking tools.
My Collection: Mame cab, 38 dedicated vids, pin, skeeball, coin op air hockey table, Ice Cold Beer, Megatouch, 2 token machines, and payphone (VAPS, pics at Arcade Crusade)

Add Ambience to your mame cab setup

thought  i read somewhere of folks creating thier own ddr machine. the actual dance pad lit up and sat on a frame of metal and acrylic? something like that. each square could handle like 500 pounds. forgot where i saw it. maybe you could do one of those.

Since the wifey won't go for a cocktail cab, why not think smaller and build a bartop?  She may go for that.

Thoughts?

got a deck?  everyone with a house has to build a deck and a bricked grill.  new rule.

...also build a solar water heater...

...so you don't feel so conscientious...

when you are enjoying grilled treats in your custom made 3D movie theater jacuzzi grill bar.

man.  I gotta get a house and get started.
