Be gentle, it's my first time..... What are your opinions on my first attempt at a CP layout.  48"X20".  I have 4 people in the family and we love to play TMNT, Simpsons, Xmen(old), and Captain America; thus the 4 player layout.  Thanks for your help.

My god...  :o it's full of stars...

seriously though...

It's really easy to design monsters in 2d, but what you need to consider is the third dimension... do you realize what this thing is going to look like with 8 joysticks sticking out of it?

Also, it'll be damned uncomforatable/ackward trying to reach anything behind the front line... an armful of buttons ( or trackball! ) is not my idea of fun. :)

Good try, but being one of the "less is better" camp, I couldn't possibly enjoy this one.

If I were you I'd consider making a Guantlet/TMNT style 4 way and then maybe throw in a trackball on that... then have a second panel for the fighting games with maybe a spinner...

it looks like the red joysticks and the player1 and 2 joysticks would be in the way of those near the middle/top. last week i designed a 4player cp in cad and it didnt have as much stuff as yours but it was bigger in length.i eventually scrapped the idea after realizing i was going in the wrong direction, with the size and the the whole 4player thing. but i guess you shouldnt change the 4player setup since you play it a lot.

Sorry, the 2 8ways at the top are going to be modified Raider Pro Flight stick for use with DOT, Tron, and Jurasic Park.

Wow thats busy!

1) create one out of cardboard.  And try using each of the controls.  See whats getting in the way of what...  With something that busy, I would guess some will be hard to use..

2) Scrap the design, go very small and simple... and implement hotswappable controls panels!  Then create one for each game you want!  Better long term solution because you never know when you get a sweet deal on some true poleposition wheels on ebay... or 720 controller... or starwars controller... or you really really get into asteroids and you want the original layout...

I think it may be on the big side.  I did the exact same thing for my first CP. it was 48" wide and full of waaaay too much stuff.  Seriously, it felt like I was sitting at a bar or desk.  I'd go with swappable if I were you, like Lilwolf says.

Those duplicate player one and two sticks (4-way I assume). I would move them in line with the main sticks, instead of having them at an offset.

I would also drop the flight sticks and the dedicated trackball buttons (just use the trackball buttons somewhere else).

I would also see if you couldn't drop that spinner down near the edge somewhere, that way you aren't reaching over anything.

I also would not make a 4 foot wide panel, as not even real 4 player games have panels that big.
