2008 tokens
« on: February 06, 2008, 08:44:21 pm »
I have just modded my coin mechs to accept tokens, so now I'm interested in ordering BYOAC tokens. What's the word on 2008 tokens? I'm not quite ready to order yet (gotta find a new job first! ), but that shouldn't be long, and I like to plan ahead. :)
My Collection: Mame cab, 38 dedicated vids, pin, skeeball, coin op air hockey table, Ice Cold Beer, Megatouch, 2 token machines, and payphone (VAPS, pics at Arcade Crusade)

And this year maybe we can get a theme based on the 20th century!

Havent bought or seen any of the previous tokens... So I dont know what you mean... But you did give me an idea:

Since these would be the '08 tokens, maybe have the theme be a montage of games that came out in years ending in 8?

What are some of the good games from, 1978, 1988, and 1998?

EDIT: And after reading through the previous years token posts, I firmly feel that : "One coin to build repair play them all your bases belong to us" is the best slogon for this years token! :p

--- Yes I AM doing this on purpose, and yes I DO realize it is pissing you off.

That is an awesome idea!

78 - Atari Football
88 - 88 Games
98 - Area 51

Actually, after running a few queries, the game selection is a bit on the light side, but I still like the idea!

Thanx! I am sure there are some other games you havent thought of that would fit "the bill" better, but it is a good idea, esp since once we hit 2010, the concept wont work anymore... :( .

BTW Area 51 is a game I i HAVE to MAME! Too bad it is nearly impossible to get a hold of... (Im not a big fan of rail shooters, but that one was really fun!)

Maybe the 2009 ones with this idea would work better? Some great games came out in 79, 89, and even 99... (TMNT for 89 pops to the top of my mind for that one)

BBWWAHAHAHAAHHAAA!!!

Still tho, what do you think about the idea to have a montage for years ending in 8? If we get enough people behind it early, it may stick and not be an issue as to what the token would look like...

The problem here is a legal one... we don't have license to use images or names related to specific games.  This has come up before when we wanted to use a Pac-Man image on a token.

Makes sense. then about the closest thing to my idea that we could do would be to show a montage of sillouettes of arcade cabinets from years ending in 8. (without having any signage or (c) stuff showing up)
