doing a search of "u360 octagonal" doesnt bring up many results.
i enjoy playing fighter games, but i also enjoy playing the older type games like pacman etc
would i be better off going with the octagonal restrictor?

I don't think so. The whole point of the 360 is that it can act like any type of joystick. An 8-way restrictor kind of goes against that.

Modify your search a bit and try "u360 restrictor" it brings up two pages of results. That should keep you busy for awhile.
I believe, after reading similar threads over the last couple of years and from personal experience, that the round restrictor is the shizzle for all around use including 8 way type fighters.
